Chocolate Crinkles

Directions:
Cream together the shortening, sugar, and vanilla. Beat in 2 eggs. Melt two 1-ounce squares of unsweetened chocolate (I melt mine in a bowl over simmering water). Add the chocolate to the mixture.
Sift together the 2 cups of flour, baking powder, and salt.
Add the sifted flour mixture and milk alternately until the dough is thoroughly combined.
     CHILL DOUGH (3 hours)
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Grease cookie sheet or use silicone baking mats. Roll dough into 1-inch balls. Roll each ball in confectioners sugar and place on a cookie sheet 2-3 inches apart. Bake 15 minutes. Cool slightly before removing from pan.

Makes 48 cookies (4 dozen)

Ingredients:
1/2 C shortening
1 2/3 C granulated sugar
2 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted
2 C all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 C milk
Confectioners' sugar for rolling

This recipe came from my Grandma Jones. Dad always makes them at Christmas and this year I took them to our Kentucky family Christmas. They are always a big hit (and slightly messy, due to the powdered sugar)!

*This dough must be chilled for 3 hours*
